Three Alarm Structure Fire
127 Arena Street
City of El Segundo
It took El Segundo Firefighters close to three hours to control
a blaze that destroyed “Raindance,” a garment business
that produced activewear for dancers and cheerleaders. There were
also reports of piles of clothing that were donated for the needy
crowded in several of the rooms. Firefighters were ordered out of
the building and went to “defensive mode” as flames
were shooting through the roof of the two story structure. With
ladder pipes and numerous handlines firefighters kept the blaze
in check, preventing the fire from spreading to adjacent structures
and exposures in the rear. The “Third Alarm” brought
in Firefighters from Manhattan Beach, Hermosa Beach, Redondo Beach,
Torrance and L.A. County to assist El Segundo units on scene. Damage
was extensive, there were no reported injuries. The cause of the
late night blaze is under investigation.
